The New Year
20. January 2009 15:15
Hey Guys,
I’m back after a quite deserving restful break. And by restful, I mean working hard to begin this second semester a step ahead. I finally bought my books on Friday which were quite expensive but definitely worth the money. Some people say that they pay too much for their books, but those are the ones that never make it to the second chapter. I am currently taking 12 hours this semester: Abstract Algebra II, Numerical Analysis, Intermediate Analysis, and finally Conversational Spanish. Yeah that’s right, three math courses and a language one. Twelve hours for me is not much since I’ve been taking 18 to 20 hours my last semesters. Well with that aside, it is also time for rushing. Currently the women are rushing this week with rush parties, and the men will be rushing at the smokers next week. It is a very exacting time for those young men and women because they are deciding what path and what type of brother/sisterhood to be a part of. I was blessed to experience it last year and I believe that it has been one of the greatest decisions of my life. In addition, this Saturday is the first preview of the New Year. I am also excited for this one because I know there is going to be a bunch of future MCM students exploring the campus. Well enough of those few exciting things, come out to MCM and explore excellence….
Until Next Time,

Pre-Preview Day
16. November 2008 15:27
Hey Guys,
I’m back and pretty pumped for tomorrow. This is because it is our first preview day of the year. As you guys know, I am new to this position as a tribe guide, but tomorrow should be fun. We registered about 120 prospective students, and I get to tour half of them which is like 60. We have many things planned for them, in addition to the tours, such as prizes, a football game, and best of all food.
Well as far as school goes, it is almost time for those two most desired holidays of the fall. Yes guys, Thanksgiving and Christmas are almost here which means fun, food, and family. I believe that I am finally going to see mine since I live quite far from Abilene. With that in mind, I do know that finals are coming up and a lot of studying will be taking place. In the end I will know that it will be worth it knowing I can find a good job. Well that’s pretty much it for right now. I do inform you guys to comment the blogs and ask any questions you all have. See you all later.

Chat Night!!
17. October 2008 13:38
Hey Guys,
I am back and so is the cold weather, but I am super excited because, yesterday, we just finished our first chat night of the school year!! For those who don’t know, chat night is when all u guys get to chat with current students like myself and counselors about anything you want. Whether you want to talk about financial aid, classes, sports, or even Abilene life, we will answer truthfully. I was supper pumped when they told me that I was going to be part of the chat group because I’m use to chatting but not chatting with prospective students. To me, it was much easier than calling because I can talk to many students at the same time. I was also surprised at the great turnout that we had since it was our first night of the year. I met many interesting people who were nice, polite, and not to mention that they had many questions for me. For example, there was this nice girl by the name of Lauren who is sister with an alumni, who is in my family in my social club. Talk about a small world! Oh and for those who feel more comfortable speaking Spanish, les quiero decir que soy bilingue y si les podria ayudar. Overall, the whole chat thing was quite fun. Well another fun thing that is going on right now is mid-terms, NOT! Who loves test, not me, but hey we have to take them. Mine weren’t that bad since I studied a lot for these senior level math classes. Other than that, it’s getting colder and Homecoming is around the corner. Well that’s about it, until next time.
And School Began.

Hey Guys,
My name is Pedro Bueno and I am a junior math/physics major here at MCM. I am currently a member of the Ko Sari Fraternity and the newest member to the Tour Guide Staff. I was born in Acapulco, Mexico and raised in Houston, TX. I graduated from Eisenhower High School where I was involved in Student Government (President), Spanish Club (President), NHS, SNHS, NAHS, Principal Students Advisory Committee, and Cross Country. Once senior year hit, I was excited to finally finish High School but was stressed with all the AP courses I was taking. Then, after a blink of an eye, I was saying my speech at graduation in front of over 2500 people. Once the summer came, it was time to get ready for college. I was already accepted to both Sam Houston State and McMurry University, but before I made a decision I had to visit the schools. Evidently McMurry was further than Sam Houston, but believe me the tour was worth the 6 hours on the road. The tour guides were both friendly and informative which made the tour go a lot smoother. With these positive contributions to my tour, I definitely felt the home-like atmosphere from all of the students that were still here for the summer. After spending a couple of hours here in Abilene, I was certain that my decision was to come to Abilene and attend McMurry University. When I arrived here, I was not so sure because no one from my high school had chosen this school. I was basically a lonely guy in the city of Abilene. Then, it was time for Vision Quest and it was a memorable experience where I met some of my best friends. Throughout the year I became involved in campus activity board (CAB), Religious life, intramurals, and in the spring pledged the Ko Sari Fraternity. Once the first year was over, I decided to stay in Abilene and move into the Campus Apartments where I also met many students that I had seen before around the campus. Now, I am in my second year of college and already a junior, thanks to my AP teachers, just enjoying my time here and making every minute count.
