The School of Arts and Letters offers you the opportunity to explore your creativity within a liberal arts degree. The School of Arts and Letters develops your critical thinking skills, nurtures innovation and enhances an appreciation of the arts. As a student within the School of Arts and Letters, a number of exciting opportunities outside the classroom lie ahead. As a music student, you can march with the band or sing with Chanters, McMurry's select concert choir. You can travel to Eastern Europe to learn about different artistic cultures and prepare shows for our two student art galleries through our studio art programs. As a theatre student, you can perform in the Homecoming musical or have your own play produced through our playwriting class. And if you're interested in literature and writing, be a journalist for the university newspaper, the War Whoop, or help edit the Galleon, an annual publication of written works by students and faculty. In addition to these opportunities, scholarships are available for band, choir and visual arts, as well as theatre internships. The possibilities are endless, and you can be a part of it.

A degree from the School of Arts and Letters prepares you for a variety of career options as well as graduate school. Jon Kimbrell, a 2004 graduate, has been featured at the Whitney Museum in NYC and owns his own art gallery in McKinney, Texas.
