"One of the things I like about McMurry is the size of the campus. It's a smaller campus, and it doesn't leave you feeling overwhelmed like a larger campus might. I also like how the class sizes are smaller, allowing you to have more one-on-one time with the professors."

School of Education

The School of Education at McMurry University focuses on innovative teaching, technology, and the importance of lifelong learning.

The use of technology is incorporated into online classes and in class multimedia presentations.

As an education major, you may choose from a wide variety of certification areas. Early Childhood Education is a popular major, but there are also opportunities for students who would like to be certified in grades 4-8 or 8-12. Our partnerships with local public schools allow you to learn a wide variety of teaching strategies and classroom management techniques. We also have special programs such as Abilene’s Adopt-a-School partnership and the America Reads program that provide additional opportunities for classroom interaction.

Each year, the School of Education sponsors a Reading Camp. Students come from area schools for help with reading skills. There are scholarships available for Reading Camp participants.
